Elmira Bakhshalian
Researcher and published author with 10+ years bridging the gap between academic evidence and real-world workforce strategy.
“I bridge the gap between rigorous research and real-world decisions.”
I help organisations understand their people. For over a decade I've designed and delivered research that turns messy workforce data into clear decisions — for clients including the NHS, the BMA, and local authorities across the UK.
My work blends qualitative depth with quantitative analysis — from thematic analysis of 1,500+ pages of interview transcripts to large-scale survey design and statistical analysis across 150+ organisations. Whether it's an academic publication or a board-ready report, I make complex evidence accessible and actionable.
Two MSc degrees (both Distinction), 12+ published papers, a book, and an international conference presentation in Milan. I bring academic rigour without the academic jargon.
What I've done
Research that shaped national policy
Led the thematic analysis of 1,500+ pages of NHS Scotland consultant interview transcripts for a BMA-commissioned report with Prof. Graeme Martin — findings that made national front pages and TV, informed Scottish Parliament debate, and shaped NHS Scotland policy.
Mixed-method research across 150+ organisations
From survey design and statistical analysis to deep qualitative coding, I blend methods to turn messy workforce data into board-ready insight. My research spans 150+ UK organisations across the public and private sectors.
Published author and international presenter
Author of 12+ published papers and co-author of PEP® Dr: Unlocking the Puzzles of Peak Engagement and Performance. I presented research at the 7th International e-HRM Conference in Milan, with the paper published in a special issue of Studi Organizzativi.
