How I handle your data when you use this site or get in touch.

Who is responsible
Elmira Bakhshalian, an independent research consultant based in London, is the data controller for information collected through this website. For any privacy question, email elmirabakhshalian@gmail.com.
What data is collected
The only personal data I collect is what you voluntarily submit through the contact form on this site: your name, email address, selected subject, and the message you write. If you email or call me directly, I will also hold your email address or phone number.
I do not set advertising cookies or run third-party advertising trackers on this site.
Why I hold it (lawful basis)
The lawful basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interest: I need your contact details and message in order to reply to the enquiry you've sent. If our discussion leads to an engagement, I will hold your details for the duration of that work on the basis of contract.
Who processes it
Two third parties help deliver this website:
- Formspree processes contact-form submissions and forwards them to me by email. See the Formspree privacy policy.
- Netlify hosts the site. Netlify keeps standard server access logs (IP address, browser type, page requested). See the Netlify privacy notice.
I do not sell, rent, or share your details with any other party.
How long I keep it
Enquiry emails that don't lead to an engagement are deleted within 12 months. Correspondence and records tied to a client engagement are kept for 7 years after the work ends, to meet UK tax and professional-records requirements, then deleted.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask me to:
- Confirm what data I hold about you and send you a copy.
- Correct anything that's inaccurate.
- Delete your data (unless I'm legally required to keep it).
- Restrict how I use it, or object to a particular use.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
